Town Manager

The Town of Cumberland operates under a Town Council – Manager form of government.  The Town Manager is appointed by the Town Council to manage the daily operations of the Town and carry out the policy directives of the elected Council.  The Town Manager oversees the delivery of essential public services while also working toward long term improvement. The Town Manager acts as a liaison with businesses and other governmental agencies as well as serves as the spokesperson for the Town.

Meet Town Manager April Fisher
April Fisher has served as the Town Manager of Cumberland since December of 2015.  She grew up in northwest Shelby County and moved to Indianapolis after graduating from Butler University in 2002 where she majored in political science and communication studies.  After college, April chose to attend law school.  In 2005 she received her J.D. from the Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis.  April spent the first ten years of her professional career as a deputy prosecutor for Marion County.  The majority of her time at the prosecutor’s office was spent as a community prosecutor.  This assignment allowed her to work directly with the community on outreach and crime prevention programs.  In 2014 April was honored to be named the Cumberland Police Department’s Crime Fighter of the Year.  April currently resides in Indianapolis with her family and their dog.
