Opened in 2010, the Cumberland Pennsy Trail is one of the town's greatest assets, and preserves the legacy of the Pennsylvania Railroad corridor through Cumberland while providing a place for recreation throughout the community. The trail features a unique Solar System Model, which is laid out in scale along the trail. The educational information at each planet is a great learning opportunity for families and schools alike.

The Cumberland Pennsy Trail is part of the larger National Road Heritage Trail and allows users to travel the same corridor by foot or bike that President Herbert Hoover traveled via his train as well as the funeral train of Abraham Lincoln en route to Indianapolis.
