Housing Vision & Supply
Housing Vision
The Town of Cumberland desires to have housing diversity that provides a variety of different product types at different price ranges and a mix for sale and for rent to provide residents an opportunity to stay in their community no matter what stage in life they are in.

Affordability
The Builders Association of Indianapolis and the Metropolitan Board of Realtors state that lending institutions consider a house if affordable if it is between 2.5 and 3.5 times the household income. For Cumberland residents with a median household income of $73,079 that would put housing affordability in the range of $209,295 - $293,013. Thus most of if not all homes are outside the affordability range. Further, given current residential materials and development costs it is difficult to provide a single-family home for under $300,000.
